Grandad’s Apples is a popular stop with locals for fresh apple cider donuts and cold cider slush.
Grandad’s Apples is on 64 on the west side of Hendersonville, past the turn for Walmart.
The road is called Chimney Rock Road there.
You can’t miss the John Deere tractor on top of the silo.
Apples
Fresh apples are picked every day. You can sample the different varieties and buy a bag. They grow more than 20 different varieties of apples.
They also had peaches this time.
You can buy pre-packed bags of apples. Or mix and match! Make your own assortment of any of the apples in season.
They continue to put out more fresh picked apples all day.
U-Pick Apples
Or pick apples yourself. Grandad’s grows more than 20 different varieties of apples.
The trees are marked, so you know what kind of apples they are and when they are ripe and ready to pick.
Grandad’s Country Store
There are lots of apple related things to buy at the Country Store. They sell apple peelers, apple bakers, apple crisp mix… anything apple, they have it.
Grandad’s has their own brand of jelly, jams and preserves.
There are lots of other things. I really like the hand made dish cloths. They are all different.
And have you ever heard of apple licorice?
Grandad’s Bakery
The bakery has fresh apple cider donuts and apple sauce bread, caramel apples, apple turnovers, apple pies, and more. You can take them home or eat them there.
Playground, Picnic Area & Corn Maze
They have a playground.
The silo provides shade for the rocking chairs, where you can keep an eye on the kids in the playground. The silo is set where it catches some breeze.
Farm Animals
The area with farm animals has a double fence, so you can’t actually touch the animals.
When we were there we saw two goats and a donkey.
You can feed the animals, but don’t give them apples. I’m sure that otherwise they would get WAY too many apples.
The goat was keeping an eye on this ramp to see if we gave them anything.
The miniature donkey was eating grass as close to the shade as he could get.
There was a sign for the Cow Train. It is only on the weekends and we were there on Wednesday morning, so I have no idea what a cow train is.
There were no signs for or against dogs, but there was a dog wandering around on a leash and nobody said anything.
