Daniel Heyward Plantation

We took South Carolina Highway 462 home (from Hilton Head Island to Hendersonville, NC) and passed a road named Old House Road.

Soon after, we saw a historic marker for the tomb of Thomas Heyward, Jr. Look for it on the east side of the road, just north of Old House Rd.

If you drive down the driveway, overhung with live oak, you will find the Old House. Or what’s left, which is pretty much nothing. This is the historic Daniel Heyward Plantation.
